Reunion

Have you ever experienced the loss or separation of someone you deeply loved? Someone you believed you were meant to be with, yet life led you in different directions?

Or have you ever experienced a reunion with a soul you feel you have known before – perhaps even in another lifetime?

I feel fortunate to say that I have experienced both: the loss and the reunion, with different souls. Both experiences have left their traces within me.

This artwork began with a colour. This time, it was blue.

As in every painting process, I followed the energy moving within me. I allowed my hand to guide the work and tried to remain present in the moment. I often paint while listening to music, carrying only a vague thought, an intention or a feeling. Sometimes it is a colour that leads me; sometimes a title. Yet the finished work is always a surprise – something unexpected that I could never have fully planned in advance.

Sometimes the title guides the painting from the beginning. At other times, as with this piece, the title reveals itself only when the work is complete.

Reunion is a diptych consisting of two separate paintings. Each panel measures 80 × 100 cm, and together they form a whole measuring 160 × 100 cm.

This work is about life and everything it holds – the storms we move through, the moments of flow and the still waters in between. It is about shifting perspectives, love, space and the invisible threads that connect the different parts of our journey.

Two individual pieces. Separate, yet connected. Each complete in itself, but together creating something greater.

There are moments in life when the pieces suddenly fall into place. What once felt separate begins to make sense. The colours, forms, experiences and emotions find their place within a larger picture.

That was the feeling that came to me when I completed this work.

Everything was aligned.

The pieces had found one another.

The reunion was here.

Live and Love,

Katri
