With my art, I wish to convey a sense of freedom and flow — of calm and energy — while also extending an invitation for others to explore their inner world.

I want you to connect with your soul as you view my art — to let my images awaken a longing within you and gently invite forth the courage and energy to bring what lives inside you out into the light.

My wish is that more people may feel at ease within themselves and allow the light of love to spread, so that the world becomes a more accepting place — one where all beings are free to stand in their own light and feel enough.

MY ART

Beauty is all around us, wherever we go – yet at times we are more focused on what isn’t working, on what feels out of balance.

I know that I feel better when I turn my attention towards what gives me good energy – when I feel joy, a sense of discovery, and a drive to create, with curiosity for what wishes to emerge.

In my art, you encounter two different genres, each with its own expression.
When I work with photography, it is nature and its beauty, its fragility and its strength, that come forward – with a sense of calm and mystery, often in more muted tones.

When I paint, the expression becomes more vibrant, often abstract with figurative elements. Sometimes something wants to emerge more clearly than mere whispers. Mystery and a sense of harmony are present even in the intuitive painting process.

For me, art is a journey of discovery, where the purpose is to feel and to experience fully – just as in yoga and in life.

I feel that in my yoga practice I peel away layer after layer to come closer to my core, and then I paint these layers until an image appears that feels complete.

About Katri Pethman

With my roots — and half of my heart — still in Finland, but living on Ekerö in Sweden since 2001, I have been walking the path of art for nearly five years. My steps have grown more confident, my heart more open and curious, eager to experience more.

I carry my Finnish roots and values deeply within me and feel a strong pride in my homeland. At the same time, I have found my home in Sweden, in the environment where I wish to live and create. The strongest bond that ties me here is my yoga family.

I began my yoga practice in Finland in 1999 and have continued to walk that path ever since. Yoga holds profound significance in my life; it has shaped me deeply and has had a great influence on who I am today.

My art, the titles of my works, and the texts I write all reflect my outlook on life. I see my art as a form of spiritual expression, filled with reflections on life’s challenges and joys. Life is a constantly fascinating journey, where every struggle and every success carries its own lessons. For me, the most important thing is to continue ‘working on oneself’ each day and to grow as a human being. In doing so, I believe I can contribute to a better world.
